There are some tips, which can help you to use Icem CFD. Indeed, Icem CFD is a very powerful grid generation tools, but for this reason, Icem is sometimes complicated. So, in this part, different tips will be explained.
USE OF THE MOUSE
When you use DDN or DDN=>Tetin, there are two different mode for the mouse : the Static and the dynamic. In Static mode, the mouse buttons are descripted below :

|Middle Mouse Button|| Completing Operation ]. Clicking the mouse button while
keeping it down and moving the mouse slightly to the right will execute

key from the keyboard.
Rejecting Operation . Clicking the mouse button while keeping it down and moving the mouse slightly to the left will execute a Operation Rejecte command.
|Middle and Right Together or Middle and Left Together||Pressing the right mouse button while holding down the middle mouse button will get into the dynamic viewing mode for workstations that have 3D graphics capability.|
The dynamic mode can be activate with the mouse or by hitting the F9 key. In this case, the mouse buttons are descripted below :

HOW WRITE NUMBERS
It may be very important to write numbers with a point, even if the number is an integer. Indeed, it may be very different for a solver to have integers or reals. So, you must choose to always write numbers with as reals.
Example : not 25, but 25.

To hyde some elements, you must click on the hyde button. Next, in a new toolbar, you choose if you want to blank or unblank. Then, you click on the arrow button and you select the elements to blank or unblank.
HOW COME BACK TO DDN=>TETIN
|When you are in the DDN=>Tetin mode, you can change to the DDN mode when you click on a "function" button. Then, to come back to DDN=>Tetin, you must click on the "GPL" button and next to the "CONTIN GPL" button.||
HOW MAKE A GOOD SURFACE
When you make a new surface, it is very important to select the edges in a successive order. Indeed, the next edge selected must be adjacent to the last one. If you make a mistake, the surface will lose its shape.
EXPORT TO A SOLVER
To export a mesh, you choose the "Output" toolbar. Then, you click on the "Select Solver" button. You must then choose a solver (for example : Fluent_V5). You click then on the "Bound conds" button. In a new window, you can easily define the different boundary conditions.
|Next, you click on the "Solver Input" button. A new window named "Domain selection" permit to select the domain (for example : hex.unstruct).||
||Finally, a new window permit to define the last parameters.|
An output file is created. In the example, it is a "msh" file which can be open with fluent.
