When designing a throttle body, the quantity of air that supplies in the combustion chamber is highly important, and to set this parameter some simulations were conducted with the software STARCCM+. In order to reduce costs when designing a new fuel management system, computer modeling and simulations have become more and more required by engineering companies, saving valuable setup time in a wind tunnel or in an engine test cell. To run such simulation a reliable model needs to be created, based on equations of fluid mechanics and its numerical models. A throttle body has been simulated using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and all parameters were ranked in priority order, showing which of them will have a stronger impact on the airflow that will be aspirated by the engine. The results shows that a simulation model studied in this report had good results, when comparing to experimental data (error < 17%). This study have the main objective of becoming a numerical correlation.
