INSTALLATION OF THE DEMO
When you open a project, a dialog box lists available databases. One
at least is
already selectable: demoDB. It is a prepogrammed database, which gives
a variety of
examples showing the kind of cases the software can treat.
In order to install this demo you need to write the following "alias" in your file .cshrc :
alias SIMView '/logiciels-mfn/SIMVIew-ATHOS/ega/bin/ega'
alias demo_db 'SIMView -installdb -dir /logiciels-mfn/SIMView-ATHOS/ega/demo/base
demoDB'
WORKING WITH SIMVIEW
Building your own case
Creating a field, importing
layers characteristics. Grid To Simview module
Initialization of layers geological properties
Basic grids
If you want to realize yor own simualtion, with its proper characteristics
you can
follow step by step the SIMView tutorial, which is deltailed on page
178 of the
simview.pdf help file. A brief description is though given here.
Creating a field, importing layers characteristics. Grid To Simview module
First step : Hirachicly create a field, a reservoir, a study
and a case. Once the last
level exist, different tasks can be launched. Your field will be composed
by 5 layers.
Second step : Import data files containing tutorial information about the field.
For each layer, you will need: gross thikniss (GT.ascii), porosities
(POROS*.ascii),
horizontal permeabilities (KX*.ascii). For the top layer (number 5)
you will also have
to get depth values(TOP.ascii). These files are contained in the directory
examples,
under the sub directory Grid To SIMVEW. Examples should be located
in your working
account. At this same step, you will intialize x-axis and y-axis dimensions.
Make the
initialization following instructions.
Initialization of layers geological properties:
You are requested to name your geometry file. You must also give a grid
name a
relatively to your reservoir. You Previously imported different data
files to the
field. Here, you will assign values of data (gross thiknesses, horizontal
permeablilities, and porosities) to the matching layer. Lastly, you
can use the matrix
editor module to affect vertical to horizontal permeability ratio(called:
"Z to H cell
permeability"), trap zonation, rock end points zonation, and net thikness
(same names).
Here again, stricltly respect values provided by simview tutorial.
When these
intializations are all done, the root grid contains with all the parameters
it needs to
launch simulations via ATHOS.
First of all, create a grid. You can also chek if the diplays of DX
and DY are correct
(12000ft*12000ft). If not, destroy all the study you are working on,
and make
intializations once again. Operations are completely irreversible in
Simview: each
time, you have to check that imported datat is correctly done before
confirming
operations and quitting dialog windows.
Once you have finished with the subgrids, the grid system is done. You
can edit the
grids to vizualise what imported, this will look like the picture below:
To simulate, you will simply have to run ATHOS, via RUN ATHOS command.
Different types
of simulation results are available.
