Use of Star CD for viscoplastic flows - 2 : Couette flows -
-
Authors : D. Anne-Archard (anne-archard@imft.fr)
-
Objective :
-
Numerical simulation of hydrodynamics when fluids are non newtonian ones
with the industrial code Star CD.
-
Numerous industrial fluids are non newtonian. One can encountered them
in domains as different as petroleum industry (production and derivatives:
polymers), food industry, textile... and hydrodynamics can be strongly
affected by non newtonian characteristics such as viscoplasticity.
-
The aim of this task is to simulate the Couette flow of a viscoplastic
Bingham fluid with Star CD and then compare these results to analytical
solution. Plane and cylindrical geometry will be examined.
-
Working plan :
-
SCD2.1 : Reading User's guide for Star CD
-
SCD2.2 : Define strategy for Bingham fluids.
-
SCD2.3 : Run Star CD for a given range of parameters.
-
SCD2.4 : Compare numerical and analytical results.
-
SCD2.5 : Writing the report.
