Eclipse
Manual
An Eclipse DATA File is a split into sections, each of it is intrduced by a keyword. A list of all section header keyword is given bellow. A more detailed description of every section will be given correspond to the exaplle we have treated.
Description of the example illustrating this manual:
In this case the permeabilities are function of Y, there are tree layers, the permeability in the second layer is K2 and in the first and third layer the permeability is K1 = 10*K2.
We inject a flow of Water Q = 3 m3/s and we collect in the output Oil. Our objective is to visualise the evolution of pressures and saturations in monophasique and diphasique in function of time and space.
For relatives permeabilities and capillary pressures in function of saturation we take:
Kr (water) = Sa , Kr (Oil) = (1-S)a and Pc(S) =((1-S)/S)0.5
In this cases a = 1 for monophasique and a = 2 for diphasique.
In this manuel we will explain how to edit a simple DATA File for a first use of eclipse corresponding to the example described.
to make a DATA file we should define a minimum number of section witch fixe the options shosen for running Eclipse and discribe the physical and geometrical properties of the case studyied.
here is the list of the indispensable sections we have to define for a first use of Eclipse.
the RUNSPEC section
RUNSPEC :
this section contains teh run title, start date, units, problem dimensions, flags for phases present and options switches.
The minimum keywords required are :
TITLE title
DIMEMSE Number of blocks in X<Y<Z directions
OIL/WATER/GAS/VAPOIL/DISGAS : the active phases present, i.e. witch saturati0ons , Rs or Rv vary
FIELD/METRIC/LAB : units
START : the start date of the simulation
WELLDIMS : well and group dimensions
the grid section define the geometry of teh grid and variouse rock properties(porosity, absolute permeabillity,...) in each grid block. In our case here the description of every data given in this section :
in the three first lignes we give the number of grids blocks and for ech directtion we specify the size of each block.
DX : the size in the x direction is 0.5 m
DY : the size in the y direction is 0.1m
DZ : the size in the z direction is 1m
TOPS : Depths of top faces of grid : here we have placed the region we want to study at a depth of 999.5
PORO : the porosity of each block, here we define a uniforme porosity for the hole blocks (= 0.2)
PERMX : the permeaility in the x direction,
PERMY : the permeaility in the y direction
PERMY : the permeaility in the z direction
OLDTRAN : it's an option witch specify that block center data should be used to compute transmibilities
the PROPS section contains the pressure and saturation dependent properties of the reservoir fluid and rocks. thiese input data depend on the RUNSPEC section in wicth we specify the number of tables and the maximum size of each table.
SWOF : Water relative permeabiliy and capilarity pressure oil relative permeability in water, as function of Rw. if the only phases present are water and oil.
PVTW : FVF, compressibility and viscosity of water
PVDO : FVF and viscosity of dead oil as function of pressure
ROCK : ROCK compressibility
DENSITY : Stock tank fluid densities
RPTPROPS : Report levels for PROPS data : Optional
the REGIONS section devide the computational grid into regions
SATNUM : saturation table region for every grid block.
The SOLUTION section contain data to define the initial state (pressure, saturation, ...)
SWAT :initial value of water saturation in every grid block
PRVD : pressure in function of depth
RPTSOL : reports switches for SOLUTION data
the SUMMARY section specify the number of variable witch are to be written to te summary file after each step time simulation.
FOPR : oil production rate
FWPR : water production rate
WWPR : water and group production rate : here in the wells P1, P2 & P3
WOPR : oil productio rate : here in the wells P1, P2 & P3
FWIR : water injection rate
.back
the SCHEDULE sectio specify the operations to be simulated : production and injection controls and contrains. it specify also the time at witch output reports are required.
WELSPECS : Introduce new wells and specifies some of their general data, including the group to witch they belong.
WELDEBUG :
COMPDAT : define connection between wells and grid blocks
WCONPROD : control data for production wells
WCONINJ :control data for injection wells
TSTEP : intervals to next report time
